The movie is described in wiki as “-a satirical tackling of the climate change crisis.^[4]“

The movie was delayed by the Covid Pandemic and after seeing the trailer last night it keeps coming to mind. There is a conspiracy theory about the virus being engineered in a Chinese lab that is pretty thin. I have written before on why humankind needs to expand into space as an insurance policy and an engineered pathogen is at the top of that short list. A pathogen designed to be highly contagious, persistent, and 100% lethal is not that big of a challenge with present technology. Any doomsday cult with a converted billionaire as a true believer could end our species.

The subject of the movie itself is second on that list of things that could kill us all. The dinosaurs are the lesson we keep ignoring in favor of marketing shoes and pickup trucks. We are likely too stupid to survive and that is the great filter that keeps intelligent life from spreading into the cosmos. Third on the list is a super-volcano epic and this could also be triggered by an impact.

Considering our present course toward civil conflict in the United States the real cause of our probable extinction really is that we are just too stupid. Before Trumpism I never would have believed humans are such incredible idiots.

They fine-tuned their algorithm to make people angry. For money.

When the republican leader said no one elected Biden to be FDR, AOC yelled, “I DID!”

It is completely obvious by now that the republicans are going to try and overthrow democracy and replace it with autocracy. Sadly, the one percent have invested mountains of money in brainwashing the masses, and most Americans do not understand what is going to happen. These republican elected officials and media influencers are responsible for tens of thousands of people dying needlessly and that is truth, that is fact. The right is blatantly pushing multiple big lies, shamelessly. America is headed for a civil war. Again, it is obvious to any critical thinker that the right is going to overthrow democracy and impose autocracy. It is happening.

The media is the key…the very first amendment.

The half of America living in their bubble hear nothing but what Bannon and the fascists want them to hear. The other half is wondering why so many trying to overthrow democracy and install a fascist autocracy are still sitting in the Capitol as elected officials.

Best news I have had in a long time. God bless Joe Biden. What all the Trumpists and conservatives simply do not understand is the autocrats do what they want to everyone else; they essentially own everyone not an autocrat. Democracies give everyone a voice and make those with power the servants. How can anyone want that one out of a hundred to have control of their life? It is crazy.

The infrastructure bill is not really the Green New Deal…but it is a start.

I keep trying to figure out the difference between those on the right who seem to worship themselves as the center of all things and those on the left who are portraying themselves as the opposite. The problem is I am attempting to stereotype humans as one or the other and of course they are not.

We are, each one of us, a collection of traits and behavior patterns and are driven by various psychological mechanisms turned on and off by different triggers. It is perhaps the gift of God that I began as a nihilist and slowly came out of it simply because I did not want to continue that living death.

The lesson of Christ is that life, consciousness, is an act of sacrifice in which time murders us slowly with each passing second- and we necessarily sacrifice reality and sanity by ignoring mortality. We are all broken on the cross. Terror Management Theory has already been operating for a couple thousand years in the Church. None of us are truly sane because to practice reason and look into the face of oblivion is far beyond what anyone can bear.

In extreme manifestations the right goes Nazi and the left Communist. World War two was the collective expression of these full tilt polar opposites made real.

And now it is America, which had elements of both fascism and socialism during that war, that is in a psychic battle with itself to decide the future of humankind.

If the space shuttle had been designed to continue to send payloads to the Moon with the expendable components replaced piece by piece with reusables in new iterations every few years then by now…
